We Are Stonger Together ***

To our LGBTQ+ Community of Akron and Beyond,

We knew the Trump administration was going to be difficult for our community. We knew, through the ads dehumanizing and instilling fear surrounding the trans community ran rampant throughout the campaign season. While we were already anticipating and preparing an uphill battle to protect the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, we are shocked and stunned at the speed in which hate can spread and the blatant attempts to erase such a valuable part of our community. CANAPI stands in solidarity with all those who are experiencing fear surrounding the recent executive orders. These orders and their potential lasting implications will hurt the livelihood and safety of transgender and non-binary friends across multiple systems from housing and shelter, healthcare accessibility, to travel, to criminal justice settings, and beyond.

We see you, we support you, and we will continue to do our part to reject the impact of these orders and future developments coming from this administration.

You have value, you have support, you have community, and we will make it through the next four years together.

If you are in need of mental health services, support, or have questions on navigating this difficult time, please check out the resources tab or to get in-touch with someone 330.252.1559.

 Sincerely,

Julie Beckert, Board President
